Raw Foods

E-mail Print PDF

This section is to introduce you to raw foods. There are several organizations that teach this subject very thoroughly and EM America works with a few of them. As we learn more about this ourselves, we will add to this section. We would like any new raw foodist that visits our site to know that the molasses in PRO EM-1® is completely digested during the fermentation process, leaving no sugars in the final product.

EM America services many customers who are on raw food diets. We also work with some of the top consultants in the raw and live food world. For those of you who do not know know what raw foods are, this can be a great introduction for you into a world of unprocessed foods that are rich in vitamins, minerals, and enzymes to help you achieve optimum health.

Effective Microorganisms™ products are raw foods themselves and can be consumed to supply the body with various trace minerals, complex vitamins, enzymes, and various other beneficial compounds needed by the body.

Another term we hear used in conjunction with Raw Food is Live Food. This is pretty self-explanatory. The foods are "ALIVE" becasue they have not been killed by cooking. Another term is "cultured" foods. We recently met with Nancy Lee Bentley, author of Truly Cultured - Rejuvenating Taste, Health and Community with Naturally Fermented Foods. Take a look at the vast connections that can be made through culture!

To learn more about Vegan Raw Foods, we suggest you visit the Tree of Life in Patagonia, Arizona. Dr. Gabriel Cousens has written about the use of Effective Microorganisms™ at the Tree of Life in his books. Effective Microorganisms™ is used in growing the rich vegetables they serve and in the hot tubs as well. You can read about Dr. Cousens' obersations on Effective Microorganisms™ in his book Conscious Eating

Some chefs have experimented with the use of Effective Microorganisms™ Technology (EM-1®, EM-X®, and EM-X® Ceramics) in their cooking, making fermented foods, salad dressings, and drinks. Shu at the Living Foods Learning Center in Columbus, New Mexico grows all their vegetables with EM-1® and uses various forms of Effective Microorganisms™ brand products in the preparation of foods there.

For the non-vegan, we have worked with dairies that sell raw milk and grass fed beef can be raised using Effective Microorganisms™ during the entire growing process to improve the overall health of the animals on the operation.

Effective Microorganisms™ is a fermentation technology. Fermented foods are rich in enzymes and live microbes. The other major benefit of eating fermented foods is that during the fermentation process, the nutrients are made bio-available so the body can readily use them.

Make your own fermented foods with EM-1

Let's give you some ideas of what you can do with this stuff. Note***You need to use some type of sugar source to feed the microbes. This sugar source can be molasses, honey, agave, fruit juice, or a combination thereof. Molasses adds minerals, so if you use something else, be sure to add some high quality sea salt.
