Potting Soil

Effective Microorganisms™ can be added to any potting soil as a potting soil treatment to help plants get a jump-start. Most potting soils on the market are sterilized to prevent disease-causing microbes from growing while in the bag. As with a human, a strong plant can't grow in a sterile environment. Plants grown in a sterile environment will be more susceptible to disease and pest pressure. Since beneficial microbes competitively eliminate pathogens, it is important to establish populations of beneficial microorganisms in the soil you want to grow healthy plants with, before pathogens get there first.

Soil Preparation

The average size of a bag of potting soil is about 40 pounds. You can add about 2 ounces of EM-1® Microbial Inoculant to each bag as a soil treatment, add in some water if the potting soil is too dry.

Another method is to add 1-2 pounds of EM-1® Bokashi before as soil treatment before planting.
